The Split-Screen Street Fighter IV Tournament: Round 6: FIGHT!

Well, Gentlemen. The scores are getting increasingly interesting, wouldn't you say? I know that time is getting on now, but this week we get to see a truly almighty match-up. This week, the mighty Vandalworks will battle the equally mighty J JOHNSON! Can you believe it?! No, me neither. But it's happening. So keep practicing and keep having fun. Right now we are toying with the idea of skipping the second load of match-ups so that we can get to the finals quicker. Once everyone has played each other once, then we may move into the eliminations. What say you? We'll be going with the majority on this one, so make yourself heard below.

Here's where we all stand:

And here's this week's fights:

The Faux Bot vs therightbullets
Bojack85 vs NaFunk
ULTIMATE GMX vs Prof Membrain
J JOHNSON vs vandalworks

Mike Haggar for Mayor!

It's taking awhile to get through, but it's fun either way?!

ben, hope you dont mind me doing this here, but all the streetfighters come here, so best place to advertise! you may be interested yourself! i've got a limited edition ps2 pad with a ken hologram on it, and as lovely as it is i need space and money, so i'll leave it open to offers!

dont mind what happens with the second half man, hows it working tourney wise? is it best V worst etc?

No problem man, that's exactly the kind of thing we want. It's like a community! Right now, it's random match ups based on who you haven't played yet. We were going to do another load of the same match-ups so we all fought eachother twice, but seeing as it's taking a while, I thought we may finish after the next round, when everyone has played eachother once. Then we could go into traditional semis. Of course, the other option is that we could just tell everyone to re-fight at their leisure and feed back the scores as after each fight. Shouldn;t be too hard to manage and it'd save time but still give people a chance to get some more points.

yeah man i dont mind either way, its fun thats all i care! still think we should try organise everyone in the same place... dont think it'd take 2 hours to play a tonne of matches!

I agree with you 3 gents, it is fun but taking a while. I think we should complete the fixtures but find a way of doing it more quickly as you (Faux Bot) suggested. Good call.

I've had enough of thrashing therightbullets - how do I get in on the next iteration?

Hello, cr0nt. Welcome to Split-Screen! So nice of you to join us! For this tourney, the entrires are closed, due to the points accumulated already, however, when we do the next one, after the success of this one it's inevitable, you will be recieving a shiny invite. I'm sure we'll all add you for sparring practice though. Although I hear you destroy ALL competition!

Well i did want my rematch against Vandalworks and therightbullets but I agree that it is taking too long and we should get to final as soon as possible.

I don't know about destroying all competition - my Viper is pretty damn weak at the minute, I guess I'll just use Balrog (Boxer to avoid confusion with anyone not in the western world) and see how I fare.

Any time for the player matches. I've given up on most other games >_<

ah bojack, you're welcome to challange me anytime! i actually won another match too vs j johnson... we had a rematch afterwards and had some really close games, was pretty darn fun. i'm up for a few rounds every now and again, gamertag is vandalworks =]

I hope that somebody will record the semis and final and stuff them on youtube for the rest of us :)

Also, are the unspoken rules about character choices? (you play one character for the whole tourney a la Japanese style tourneys or as American where if the one you choose loses a match you switch)

Also, who do you guys main?

Anonymous said...

Oops - that should be ...American...YOU CAN CHOOSE TO SWITCH TO GET A BETTER MATCHUP OR GIVE YOURSELF A BETTER CHANCE

That's an awesome idea, recording the finals. How would we go about it though? As for character rules. We can pick whoever, whenever, only we've all agreed to outlaw Gouken, Akuma and Seth, mainly just because they piss everyone off.

You all based round Ebbw Vale? You could get one of the people not involved to go somewhere and use some kind of camera? Or there are ways to record from the xbox to the pc - but I have no knowledge of them (and have linux on all my pcs so it might be even harder if I wanted to)

Why did you outlaw Gouken? OK, Seth and Akuma(Gouki if you play the Japanese verion) can be ultra turtle characters, what with having around 7/10 (Seth) and 85% (Akuma) of the stamina of the average characters, but they are way easier to thrash when you get hold :D

Don't understand the Gouken thing though unless you have been unfortunate enough to run into a REALLY talented Gouken.

The stamina/dizzy values I've taken from
here

Good thing I can use Viper for my first set of matches to get thrashed and then give you some real games with Abel/Balrog!

EDIT: USB capture card? I've seen them for about $50 but not seen a UK version and have no idea how they work. But that may be the best idea - especially for youtube quality.
