Happy Halloween from our fellow contributor Cr0nt, who would have posted this himself but he had to finish getting the make-up on his hands before going off to party. I assume he was going to a party and not just lurking around the house worrying his girlfriend^^.

Left 4 Dead 2 PC User Mods.....on a 360!?

If seems that Valve are seriously considering a distribution method that could see user-created mods for the PC version of L4D2 making their way to lowly 360 gamers. Whilst the content would be restricted, omitting references to licensed material, I can't help but contain my enthusiasm. As you may remember, I've gotten a little excited over PC mods before. Despite licensed material being omitted, we would still get more content, direct from the community. That, my friends, is awesome!

Valve have said that this model could see the authors getting paid for their work too, as nothing is ever free on XBOX Live. Good news then......for the authors at least.

New Left 4 Dead content

Valve have announced a new DLC pack for Left 4 Dead that is slated to be released sometime in September. The pack, titled 'Crash Course' will mainly comprise of a streamlined versus mode component and most importantly a whole new campaign level.

Now, with what happened in regards to Left 4 Dead 2 (you know, the whole fanboy war/online petition stuff) I'm going to be incredibly diplomatic for once. I'm reserving my judgement. The reason being that this content is free, only for those on the PC version. XBOX Live users have to pay 560 MS Points for the pleasure. Strikes me as a little weird that half the fans get it free and the others don't. I'm hoping that this is genuine miscommunication, but it's more likely that it's an underhanded attempt at starting a flamewar equalling in more page hits for Shacknews.

Wait and see, and for god's sake, don't go signing any online petitions.

There are a fair few occasions when I both regret and want to punch myself in the balls for not getting a decent gaming PC together. Despite the fact that all my communal gaming takes place on XBOX Live, I'd be able to tear myself away for some of the fantastic user-created mods for games such as Left 4 Dead. If you know me, then you'll know all about my constant nerd-boner for all things Zombie, be it Romero's finest work (everything except 'Diary') and the ever-brilliant Shaun of The Dead.


So, as if someone were trying to rub it in: they've only gone and made a Shaun mod for Left 4 Dead. The bastards. Looks awesome, right?
